ECOROLL AG Werkzeugtechnik is a machining technology company with around 80 employees. Production deviations used to be written on paper forms and carried by hand to whoever had to act on them.

Today the same process runs digitally — on ApptiveGrid, our own platform. ECOROLL built it themselves, within a few hours.

What the paper cost

The paper-based process caused four problems that reinforced one another:

• Lost time in passing forms along by hand
• Delayed decisions, because the information never arrived in real time
• No transparency about where a deviation currently stood
• Errors from manual entry and re-entry

How it was done

Staff now document a production problem in a digital form. The system notifies the people responsible automatically, so decisions happen in real time rather than after the form has made another round through the building.

The application was ready within hours and tested straight away in production. No project had to be set up and nobody had to be hired for it.
